Please comment on the recent shootings at Virginia Tech; why do these things happen?  What can or should we do about it?


At times like these it is important to realize that, as impossible as it may seem, these occurrences are indeed the choice of all concerned.  Not that every “victim” chooses to exit in the exact situation as it unfolds, but the scenario is close enough to their choices that it satisfies whatever criteria the fragment puts in place for the event.

As for the shooter, the gunman, we will say this:  This fragment, a 2nd level Mature soul, was highly agitated as a result of a severe brain chemical imbalance.  This condition usually results in an almost catatonic state, but in some cases, depending on other factors present, it can produce a fragment who is extremely violent and who completely dissociates himself from personality (creating a secondary or even also a tertiary personality to provide an action basis for the compulsion to violence) while at the same time carves out a new way of interacting with other fragments.  The fragment in question then becomes so immersed in the new personality that the original personality is quite forgotten entirely. 

This fragment, then, creates a new sub-personality and acts within the confines of the restrictions placed by self upon that personality.  The actions, then, that are considered “normal” for that personality are very different from what is considered “normal” within the confines of human society or convention, not to mention the global moral code that exists.  Acting in such a restricted way becomes exhilarating for the fragment, as the release from the normal wide variety of choices available to fragments in the course of living in a day to day fashion is removed, and there is much freedom for the fragment within that structure.

Therefore, the fragment truly thought that he was operating within the confines of normal structure, even though he was not.  This has occurred with other mass killers, though often other factors are also at play in those cases.

As for the victims, again it is important to remember that they too were operating within the confines of their structure, and within their chosen choices.  They are all, now, operating much as fragments do after making the transition from the physical plane, and for the most part are feeling the effects of the tremendous outpouring of grief and emotion that surrounds this event for most people, and are somewhat perplexed by it.  This will pass eventually, but this of course in another part of the choices they made with this type of exit, and they are, for the most part, also enjoying the challenges brought to them by it.
